SB 110 - Alaska not Ready to Run Wastewater Permitting System

Donate

Governor Murkowski is again trying to bypass environmental protections under the guise of "streamlining" permitting processes. He introduced legislation to assume state primacy over issuing permits under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) of the Clean Water Act. This move will be costly to the state, both in monetary and ecological terms. The Legislature passed SB 110 this year, which authorizes the state to seek primacy.
